Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha – Prepares the arrival of its first 120 Hz screen smartphones
Unlike OnePlus, Asus or Razer, Xiaomi does not yet offer a screen with a refresh rate higher than 60 Hz. But this will change as indicated by some parameters present in MIUI 11.
If OnePlus, Asus, Sharp or Razer started the race for the most fluid screens possible, it was not yet the case of Xiaomi. It now seems like it’s done. The site XDA Developers has indeed discovered a line of code in MIUI 11, the latest version of the system of the Chinese brand. This allows the frequency of the display to be changed from 60 to 120 Hz.
“The parameter description states that a higher refresh rate” makes images smoother “while a lower rate” keeps the battery “,” explains XDA Developers. Only two parameters are thus possible for the user who can choose to maintain a refresh rate of 60 Hz, or go directly to 120 Hz. It is thus not possible to select at the intermediate rate at 90 Hz, however that adopted by OnePlus on its latest OnePlus 7T and 7T Pro.
Recall that for the moment, no smartphone sold by Xiaomi offers a refreshing rate higher than 60 Hz. The arrival of this new parameter in the options of MIUI 11 suggests that the Chinese manufacturer could spend there. one of his next models. It would only remain to make the mark visible by default on the software of the smartphone or smartphones in question.
For the time being, few smartphones are compatible with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. We can notably count the Asus ROG Phone 2, but also the Razer Phone 2. For its part, the Japanese Sharp went even further by unveiling a few weeks ago the Aquos Zero2, the first smartphone on the market with a slab 240 Hz
