Nokia 2.3: basic but effective for 109 euros, it will be released at the end of December

HMD Global is looking to stay at the entry-level. With its new Nokia 2.3, the Finnish bet on a smartphone is very affordable, expected in the coming weeks to 109 euros.

Last June, Nokia launched the Nokia 2.2, an improved version of its predecessors with a revised design. So it’s no surprise that just six months later the Nokia 2.3 follows the same approach, but revising the recipe more timidly.

If the datasheet of the device remains very modest, it is especially its connectivity that ends up tired, HMD Global has decided to keep the Micro-USB on its entry-level. For a smartphone expected in the last days of 2019 (the first days of 2020) Fortunately, its price soothes.

Side specifications, the device embeds a 6.2-inch LCD screen in the 19: 9 format. Its definition is limited to HD + (1520 by 720 pixels, ie 271ppi). We find a small chip Helio A22 from MediaTek, coupled with 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage (expandable up to 512 GB via micro SD).

The photo part has been tweaked a bit, with the addition of an additional sensor at the back to allow a bokeh effect on the portraits. We thus inherit a 13MP sensor (f / 2.2), complete with a 2MP module and a 5 MP selfie sensor (opening at f / 2.4). All this world is powered by a battery of 4000 mAh, which augurs in theory of a suitable autonomy, and links on Android 9 Pie.

Mobile Android One requires, the Nokia 2.3 should logically be entitled to two years of Android updates, then an additional year of tracking for security patches. Finally, note that the mobile has no fingerprint sensor (it will rely on the facial recognition of Nokia) and it embeds a button dedicated to Google Assistant.

Announced in Cairo, the Nokia 2.3 is expected in the next few weeks, at a rate of 109 euros. It is currently primarily for the EMEA market (Europe, Middle East, Africa).
